That addictive white powder...

Everybody loves a snow day.

"Liz! It's snowing and the flakes are HUGE!" And that's my cue...

I quickly bundle up and run out the door to get those coveted photos of the first big snow storm in Aspen. After all, it would be unforgivable after such a dry spell not to blast snow pics and videos all over Insta until the locals cry "Staaahhhhppp already!"

But the photos aren't for the locals anyway. The locals can tell it's snowing outside, but the people sitting on their couch in Texas, worried about not having a white Christmas in Aspen, need the pictures to reaffirm their faith in their holiday vacation plans. It's because of this, that any time it snows in Aspen, you can find me running like a penguin through the snow and ice taking photos of anything and everything that may be visually stimulating to said sofa sitters.

Like a true Roaring Fork Valley native, I was horribly unprepared for the cold as I flew around town on my photo mission. No hat. No gloves. No scarf. Sad really, how many I have knit that are just sitting quietly at home waiting to become Christmas gifts, or hoping to be purchased, when they could be keeping me warm instead... but I digress. I never was a big fan of all the bulky snow gear anyway. Growing up, I was always the kid waiting for the bus in a blizzard in a sweatshirt and sneakers. Not much has changed, I guess.

While I grumbled about the cold and ogled at those beautiful white flakes, I got the photos I needed and I even got to see Santa and two tiny reindeer in the process. Here are a few of my favorites for your viewing pleasure.
