Highlands & Buttermilk Closing Days, First Friday and More!

There is no question that Aspen Highlands goes buck-wild on closing day, but Buttermilk brings their A-game as well. Here's a look at all the closing day festivities taking place this weekend at Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands, as well as everything else going on this weekend at a safe distance. 

 

Buttermilk Closing Weekend Events

Red Bull Homerun - Saturday, April 7
The concept is easy: Sprint for your skis or your snowboard, throw yourself down the marked course and finish at this year's biggest apres ski party. The after party at Bumps will feature music by DJ Naka G and DJ DC.

Bacon Appreciation Day - Sunday, April 8
In celebration of Buttermilk’s closing day, the mountain hosts an annual Bacon Appreciation Day featuring a schedule of all things bacon including bacon waffles at the Cliffhouse starting at 9am, bacon doughnuts from ColoraDough at 10:30am, bacon samplers around the mountain from 11am - it runs out. Face painting, kid’s games, a bacon and beer happy hour at Bumps restaurant from 2-4pm. 

The Fueled by Bacon Sizzle Up - Sunday, April 8
An uphilling event in conjunction with Bacon Appreciation Day. Start at the base of Buttermilk at 8am (day-of registration starts at 7:30am). The uphill ends at the Cliffhouse. Register online at: https://conta.cc/2pLaLZZ

Highlands Closing Party 2018
Aspen DJs, Milagro Tequila, Reyka Vodka and Highland Ale House are bringing back the biggest party in the Year! 10am-8pm

Highland Bowl Gathering
The Ski Patrol at Aspen Highlands has a closing day tradition of hiking up to the top of Highland Bowl and hosting an informal BBQ (weather permitting). 

Highlands Closing After Party with The Spazmatics
80's rocker band returns with favorites "Come on Eileen," "Video Killed the Radio Star," and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"… all played in the key of nerd! 9pm doors. $25 GA / $40 Reserved.

Friday, April 6

Sunset Skiing and Sundeck Apres Party
Ski Ajax Mountain until the sun sets, then head up to the Sundeck for a party, presented by Goslings Rum, until 9:30 pm. Hang out at the Sundeck after your day of skiing/riding or purchase a $10 foot pass to ride the Silver Queen Gondola after 4 pm for après-ski drink specials, food and live entertainment.

Aspen ShortsFest 2018 - April 3-8
Shortsfest has been referred to as “the crown jewel” of Aspen Film’s trifecta of festivals, in large part due to its rich history and the fact that it boasts having had notable filmmakers like Sean Baker, Damien Chazelle, Sarah Polley, Jason Reitman and Lucy Walker presenting films and conversations.

First Friday at Maker and Place
March's First Friday at Aspen's Maker and Place features Anna Trzebinski, drinks, screen printing, late night shopping hours, vendors, and small bites. Aprils's First Friday brings The Sol to Maker and Place. The Sol , a local duo, will be performing an acoustic jazz, soul set. We will also have drinks, late night shopping hours, and small bites.
