The Roaring Fork Valley comes to life in the spring! Longer days, warmer temps, budding Aspen trees... It's the time of year where those of us who live for summer begin to see the light at the end of the winter tunnel. But as excited as we may get that summer is coming, it's important to soak up spring for all it's worth. Easter is a great time to celebrate the beginning of spring, and options abound in the Valley to do just that. 

Here's a look at what's going on March 30-April 1st

 

ASPEN

March 30

Freestyle Friday
Celebrate Spring Jam at Aspen Snowmass with this 90's, neon, denim, dancing, hot doggin' good time. Head to the Merry Go Round on Highlands for an old school bumps challenge. Register online, $25. Space is limited.

Mystical Tales of Aspen
Join AHS, Aspen Walking Tours, Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort, Aspen Public Radio, and Aspen Art Museum for a free program to unearth the legends of the historic buildings in Aspen. Hear the histories, "ghost stories" & mysteries discussed in conversation with Nina Gabianelli of Aspen Historical Society, Dean Weiler of Aspen Walking Tours, and intuitive consultant Christiana McMahon. This is a free event, no RSVPs necessary. Sunset Skiing & Sundeck Apres Party
Ski Ajax until the sun sets and then head to the Sundeck for a party under the stars until 9pm.

Roaring Fork River Band at Silver City Aspen
The Roaring Fork River Band is a bluegrass-folk fusion group formed this year by five Aspen locals.

March 31

Aspen Ascent Experience
An uphill experience at Buttermilk. The Aspen Ascent Buttermilk Uphill Festival returns for it's second year, featuring gear demos, vendors, uphill clinics, and a mountain-top party.

Helly Hansen 4 MTN Mission
The Helly Hansen 4 MTN Mission will take participants on an adventure across the four ski areas of Aspen Snowmass in one day. The event will begin in Snowmass and end in Aspen and will feature two separate missions.

Easter at the ARC
12pm-3pm. Join the Aspen Recreation Center for an afternoon of fun, treats and Easter activities! 12:30 egg hunt for ages 5 and under. 1pm egg hunt for ages 6-8. 1:30pm egg hunt for ages 8+. 2pm duck races on the lazy river. And more!

Exploring Ceramic Sculpture at Red Brick
This course will allow beginning through advanced students to explore their own interests through a variety of sculpture methods, including classical sculpture and hand-building techniques appropriate for traditional and contemporary interpretations of human, animal or abstract forms.

Chair 9 Closing Party
Don your favorite aloha wear for this Chair 9 Hawaiian themed Closing Party, featuring beats by DJ Hex, plus $6 Mai Tais, $3 draft beers and the Chair 9 bar menu.

Antibalas at the Bud Light CORE Party

8pm-10pm. Mass celebrated in the 1st Floor Classrooms during the Church Renovation.

Cliffhouse Full Moon Uphill Dinner
Skin or hike up Tiehack on Buttermilk to dinner at the Cliffhouse under the full moon. Hot chocolate served from 5-6pm. A la carte dining options from 5-8pm inside the Cliffhouse. 

Beers, Boating, Biking Raffle at HOPS Culture

Easter Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church
7:30am, 10am, and 5pm. Mass celebrated in the 1st Floor Classrooms during the Church Renovation.

Aspen Mountain Sunrise Easter Service
Come enjoy a Sunrise Easter Service on top of Aspen Mountain April 1st, 8:30 am. Easter Service will be led by Nicholas Vesey, Minister at the Aspen Chapel. Easter Service is FREE. Ski Co is offering special foot pass pricing to ride the Gondola or you can use your valid ski pass.

Opening Reception: Word is Bond
Carbondale Arts presents “Word Is Bond”, with an opening reception to the public at the R2 Gallery in The Launchpad in Carbondale on Friday, Mar. 30, from 6p.m. to 8p.m. “Word Is Bond” is a collaborative exhibition taking place between Carbondale-based artists Stanley Bell and Takeo Hiromitsu, a conversation examining each of the artist’s reactions to the other’s mark-making.
